The detergent and water mix is applied to the coil using a low pressure sprayer. You can clean the coils while checking them if necessary. Do not damage them with the vacuum. Clean the blower assembly.

When the furnace coils are covered with dust and other debris the surface area is reduced and the air cannot be warmed effectively.
